Blanchet delivers a fiery performance against Garin at Roland-Garros
Blanchet and Garin faced off on court 14 in an atmosphere reminiscent of a football stadium. Cheered on by his supporters, Blanchet delivered a standout performance by defeating the world number 122 (7-6, 7-6).
Neck and neck during two sets, the players were each forced into a tie-break, both times won 7-5 by the Frenchman. Ranked 193rd in the ATP, Blanchet now advances to face the Serbian Klein in the third round of the qualifiers. If victorious, he will qualify for the main draw of Roland-Garros. This achievement already surpasses last year’s performance when he was defeated at this stage of the competition.
In the previous round, he eliminated Luxembourg's Rodesch in two sets (7-6, 6-4). This year, Blanchet won the Koblenz Challenger by defeating Italian Nardi.
