Blanchet the Only Frenchman to Clear the Qualifying Hurdle at the 2025 US Open

Ugo Blanchet will compete in the main draw of the US Open for the first time in his career. The 26-year-old Frenchman, ranked 184th in the world, successfully made it through all three rounds of qualifying.
After his wins against Borna Gojo (7-6, 3-6, 6-3) and Dmitry Popko (6-3, 6-4), the right-hander confirmed his form against Jaime Faria (7-5, 6-4) and will face Fabian Marozsan, the world No. 53, this Sunday in the first round of the main draw.
Combining both men's and women's draws, Ugo Blanchet is the only French player to have successfully qualified this year at Flushing Meadows. There were four at the start of the day, but Varvara Gracheva on the women's side, as well as Hugo Grenier and Arthur Cazaux on the men's side, all stumbled at the final hurdle.
The Hungarian, Blanchet's first-round opponent, has not had a very convincing North American tour, with second-round exits in Washington and Cincinnati and a third-round exit in Toronto.
