Boisson can win Roland-Garros because she plays so differently from other players," says Wilander
Mats Wilander spoke to L’Équipe about Loïs Boisson. According to the three-time Roland-Garros champion, the French player is capable of winning the tournament.
He explains: "Can Loïs Boisson win Roland-Garros? I say yes. Yes, she can! Because she plays so differently from all the other players. With her devastatingly effective topspin forehand, opponents need a lot of time to adjust.
Her rivals have never faced her before—they don’t know what to expect, while she knows their game. Her movement is incredible. Her backhand is so-so, which could be a weakness, but because she knows how to use her slice effectively, there’s always a lot of variation.
That slice, low on Coco Gauff’s forehand, should work well and give her time to recover in the rally. The combination of her topspin forehand and sliced backhand is ideal.
She can also accelerate on the backhand side whenever she wants because she has the technique.
