Boisson, French No. 1, Eliminated in the First Round of the US Open

Lois Boisson's debut at the US Open was short-lived. The French player, who was expected to make her first Grand Slam appearance since Roland-Garros, fell in the first round to Viktorija Golubic (3-6, 7-6, 6-2).
Arriving in New York with only one match under her belt (a loss in Cleveland last week), Boisson clearly lacked rhythm on the American hard courts. Additionally, she had decided to part ways with her coach Florian Reynet just before the start of the tournament.
The match had started well for the French No. 1, who displayed solid tennis (13 winners, 7 unforced errors) and secured a break as early as the fourth game. After half an hour, she was leading 6-3 and seemed in control of the first round.
But the momentum shifted, with Boisson making more errors in rallies (20 unforced errors in the second set) and missing two break opportunities at 2-2 and 4-4.
The second set, decided by a tie-break, ultimately went in Golubic's favor with a score of 7-3. The Swiss player, aided by her opponent's mistakes and a drop in physical condition, dominated the decisive set, securing a double break to win 3-6, 7-6, 6-2 in 2 hours and 16 minutes.
This marks a North American tour to forget for Boisson, who had already been forced to withdraw from the tournaments in Montreal and Cincinnati. The world No. 46 will try to regain confidence on hard courts during the Asian tour, while Golubic continues her journey in New York against Beatriz Haddad Maia.
