Boisson reaches her first WTA final in Hamburg
Loïs Boisson is just one win away from her first-ever title on the main tour.
The Frenchwoman, returning to clay this week for the Hamburg tournament, faced No. 2 seed Dayana Yastremska in the semifinals.
Far more comfortable on court than earlier in the week, Boisson controlled the match and dominated the Ukrainian 6-1, 7-6 in 1 hour and 29 minutes. Despite a scare when she lost her serve at 5-4 in the second set, she recovered well in the tie-break, winning it 7-5.
This victory brings her even closer to breaking into the top 50, as she now sits at No. 51 in the live rankings.
In tomorrow’s final, the 22-year-old will face Anna Bondar, world No. 77 and defending champion of the event.
