Brooksby opens up about his two-year absence and makes a revelation
Jenson Brooksby has been absent from the courts since January 2023, when he lost to Tommy Paul in the 3rd round of the Australian Open.
Since then, the American has suffered a wrist injury and undergone surgery.
He has also been suspended by the International Tennis Integrity Agency for failing to take three doping tests.
Brooksby had appealed against this decision, arguing that there had been no negligence on his part and that it had been due to poor communication with the testing officer.
The American also recently revealed that he suffers from autism: "It's something I don't want to keep to myself.
It's obviously a personal subject, and even with people you feel very comfortable with - in my mind, at least for a long time - it wasn't something you could just express in conversation, you know?
But I've always thought about it and ended up talking about it. I just want people to know me for who I really am, and that's just another part of me.
I've spent a lot of time not playing and I've had to think about a lot of things."
Brooksby will be back on the tennis courts at the Canberra Challenger and then at the Australian Open.
