Cazaux Scares Himself but Advances to the Second Round at Wimbledon to Face De Minaur

Arthur Cazaux wants to keep his run going in London. Coming through the qualifiers, the Frenchman—who has been unlucky with injuries since the start of his career—defeated Buse, Blanchet, and Lajovic to enter the main draw and was drawn against Australia’s Adam Walton, ranked 90th in the ATP.
Cazaux got off to the best possible start, winning the first two sets. However, Walton fought back, taking the fourth set in a tiebreak (7-5) to push the 22-year-old to the limit.
But mentally, the world No. 115 ultimately gained the upper hand, pulling away decisively in the final set to secure the victory (6-3, 7-6, 4-6, 6-7, 6-1 in 4 hours and 9 minutes).
With 81 winners, Cazaux weathered the storm before finally closing it out to reach the second round. He will now face world No. 11 Alex De Minaur for a spot in the last 32. The Australian, coincidentally, comfortably dispatched Roberto Carballés Baena (6-2, 6-2, 7-6).
