Sinner Efficient in His Wimbledon Debut

Unfortunate finalist at the French Open and defeated in the Halle tournament's round of 16 by Alexander Bublik, world number 1 Jannik Sinner hoped to bounce back at Wimbledon. A quarter-finalist last year, the Italian faced his compatriot Luca Nardi, ranked 95th in the world, in the first round.
On Court 1, Sinner and Nardi kicked off the day's program, and the native of San Candido conserved his energy. Unlike his main rival Carlos Alcaraz, who spent more than 4 hours on the court during his first-round match against Fabio Fognini, Sinner controlled the contest. Not really troubled, he won comfortably in three straight sets (6-4, 6-3, 6-0).
"After Halle, I worked a lot on my serve. Today, especially in the important moments, I felt that I served very well. At the beginning, I think we both had trouble getting into the match; there weren't many rallies.
But, in the end, I am happy with the way I finished the match. I hope this will give me confidence for the next encounter. The first matches in a Grand Slam are never easy.
It's a new tournament, a new opportunity, new challenges. There's an opponent in every match. I'm very happy with my match today. I will try to continue, to enjoy.
If you're not enjoying yourself on the courts here, I don't know where else you could. We'll see what happens," Sinner assured, who will face Vukic in the next round, on the court after his victory.
