Cazaux unveils his ambitions: "To get closer to the Top 30 next year".
Arthur Cazaux has had an up-and-down year in 2024. After reaching the round of 16 at the Australian Open, the Frenchman's results quickly slipped, as he was taken ill in Miami and suffered an ankle injury in Barcelona.
It was not until Paris-Bercy that he regained his form, having reached the 3rd round as a lucky-loser.
To boost his ambitions beyond his current world ranking of 64th, Cazaux hired coach Sam Sumyk, who has a great reputation on the WTA circuit. He has won two Grand Slams in each of his collaborations with Victoria Azarenka and Garbiñe Muguruza.
It's with this new dynamic that the Montpellier native hopes to start 2025, as he confided to Eurosport: "We talked about work objectives, a lot of them, but not necessarily results or rankings. I want to get closer to the Top 30 next year.
I'd already set myself the Top 50 this year, but I couldn't reach it. There were also all the problems that slowed me down, but there are no excuses.
If I can make progress in all areas and play at the same level as I did in Bercy, there's no reason why I shouldn't get closer to the Top 30, even if that's an ambitious goal. I'm going to give it my all to get there.
