Collignon Wins His First ATP Tour Match in Marrakech
At 23 years old, Raphaël Collignon won the first ATP match of his career on Monday, defeating Fabio Fognini (6-3, 6-3).
After breaking into the Top 100 in February, the Belgian faced a tricky draw in Marrakech against the 37-year-old Fognini, who remains dangerous on clay.
Ultimately, there was no suspense in the match, as Collignon secured victory in 1 hour and 22 minutes after a controlled performance, capitalizing on his opponent's numerous unforced errors (30 in total).
He will now attempt to reach his first-ever ATP Tour quarterfinal against Nuno Borges, the tournament's No. 4 seed.
