Collins Analyzes Her Victory Against Swiatek: "After Losing So Many Times to Her, You Learn From Those Experiences"

Danielle Collins secured her second career win against Iga Swiatek today. She defeated the Polish player, currently ranked world No. 2 and defending Rome champion, in straight sets with a score of 6-1, 7-5.
Advancing to the Round of 16, the American shared the keys to her success:
"After losing to her so many times, you learn from those experiences, from those matches. In my mind, I told myself that even though she had won our last two encounters, I had probably played my two best matches against her.
That gave me confidence. I learned while sticking to my game style and being a bit more precise than in previous matches. [...] I don’t intend to point out weaknesses in her game or criticize—this isn’t the place for that. My priority today was to step onto the court and maintain consistency in my shots.
My playing style is very aggressive—it can go either way. I made the difference by trusting myself in the big moments. And I wasn’t afraid to go for my shots in those situations."
