Cornet announces her withdrawal in Rouen: "My body didn't handle the sequence of these first two weeks well"
Alizé Cornet sees her return to competition already hindered by an injury. After reaching the quarterfinals in La Bisbal, where she withdrew, the French player last week participated in one of the singles matches of the Billie Jean King Cup against Belgium.
Cornet was supposed to continue this week in Rouen, but she announced her withdrawal on her Instagram account:
"It is with great disappointment that I unfortunately have to withdraw from the Open de Rouen. I injured my right triceps during my BJK Cup singles match. This will require rest and treatment.
I was looking forward to returning to Rouen to celebrate my return to the main circuit, but my body didn't handle the sequence of these first two weeks of comeback well. I hope to be back as soon as possible to continue enjoying myself."
