Garcia Also Withdraws from Rouen Tournament
After Alizé Cornet's withdrawal earlier this Monday, Caroline Garcia has also pulled out of the WTA 250 in Rouen.
The French player, who suffered a back injury during the Billie Jean King Cup week, was set to face Anna Blinkova in her opening match at the Norman tournament. A semifinalist in last year's event, she will now lose valuable points, pushing her further away from the Top 100 (she is virtually ranked 115th this Monday).
She briefly commented on her withdrawal: "I already had issues in Vilnius last week. Unfortunately, it’s too short a turnaround to be able to play here at the Open de Rouen."
Garcia will be replaced by Linda Fruhvirtova in the main draw.
