Cornet Called Up for French BJK Cup Team: "She's Fit and Competitive"
Julien Benneteau has revealed the list of players who will make up the French Billie Jean King Cup team for the matches against Sweden and Turkey in Vilnius, Lithuania.
Among Clara Burel, Caroline Garcia, Diane Parry, and Varvara Gracheva, there’s a surprise inclusion: Alizé Cornet.
The Frenchwoman, who made her return to competition last week, is also making her return to the French team.
Captain Julien Benneteau explained the decision: "I asked Alizé Cornet to join us after going to see her during her comeback tournament in Spain.
I saw that she was physically fit and competitive. She has the unique ability to play both singles and, especially, doubles.
Her experience in this competition and the fact that she can play with Diane (Parry) or Caroline (Garcia) provide options and strengths that could be useful for us during the week.
Additionally, we’ve seen the complex, which is truly magnificent. The surface is traditional, with Greenset hard courts and medium speed."
