Damn, I don’t like to cry," Moutet deeply emotional after losing in the Mallorca final
Luck was not on Corentin Moutet’s side in the Mallorca tournament final, as he was defeated by Tallon Griekspoor in a tight match (7-5, 7-6).
After Doha in 2020, this marks the second time the Frenchman has fallen short in an ATP final. Still chasing his first title on the main tour, Moutet delivered an emotional speech to the Mallorcan crowd:
"It’s not easy to speak—I’m not used to giving speeches after finals. I want to thank my team here and at home too. We started in December, and we work very hard every day. We push our limits, we do incredible work, sometimes painful, but I give everything I have to compete against the best players in the world.
This has been my dream since I started playing tennis. So I work very hard to reach my dreams. I’m lucky to have good people around me every day… Damn, I don’t like to cry. I’m sorry if this is a bit long, but it’s important for me to say these things.
We’re amazing when we win, we’re terrible when we lose, but the most important thing is the journey. I’ll be back on court Tuesday at Wimbledon, and we’ll reach our dreams together. I truly believe that.
