Moutet Falls to Griekspoor in Mallorca Final
Moutet faced Griekspoor in the Mallorca final. In their two previous encounters, the Frenchman had never defeated the world No. 24 (0-2). Their last meeting dated back to the 2018 Antwerp qualifiers.
Despite a competitive match, Moutet lost in straight sets (7-5, 7-6) after nearly two hours of play. The left-hander couldn’t find answers against the Dutchman, who relied on a strong serve followed by frequent net approaches.
This effective grass-court strategy proved decisive, particularly in the second-set tiebreak, which Griekspoor won 7-3. The victory secured his third career title—his second on grass—all without dropping a set all week.
As for Moutet, he was bidding for his first career trophy five years after his maiden final in Doha against Rublev. Despite the disappointment, he will climb back to No. 69 in the world rankings.
