Darderi Falls to Kopriva in Naples Tournament Final

Darderi was defeated by Kopriva in three sets (3-6, 6-3, 7-6). To reach the final, the Italian had beaten Svrcina in the semifinals (1-6, 6-2, 7-5). The Czech player, meanwhile, claimed his 7th title and moved closer to the top 100 (now ranked 103rd).
Both players had to compete in two matches on the same day (semifinal and final) due to rain, which forced all previous day's matches to be postponed.
In a post-match interview shared by Tennis World Italia, Darderi reflected on his two matches played that Sunday:
"I played two three-hour matches today, totaling six sets. It was tough. I played well in the tournament. In this final, I had a lot of opportunities. Too bad. It was my first tournament on clay, but I’m still happy.
The goal was to get into the rhythm for the big events. I wanted to win, I came close, but I’m pleased with the level I showed. I thank everyone and hope to return to Naples next year."
The world No. 61 is competing this week at the ATP 250 in Marrakech. He will face Boyer in the first round.
