The Naples Challenger Sets Attendance Record and Now Dreams of the ATP Tour
The ATP 125 in Naples, held from March 24 to 30, achieved a record attendance for the 2025 edition. Kopriva triumphed in the final against local favorite Darderi (3-6, 6-3, 7-6).
The Italian tournament welcomed over fifteen thousand spectators in total, making Naples the most-watched Challenger in the country.
In remarks reported by Tennis World Italy, the president of the Tennis Club Napoli, Riccardo Villari, reflected on these impressive numbers and now dreams bigger:
"The first dream is to elevate the tournament to a Super Challenger 175, to be included in the 2026 calendar, perhaps in May during the second week of the Rome Masters 1000, to attract even more top-level players and spectators.
Then, the second dream is to enter the ATP Tour with a 250 clay-court tournament. It would be a guaranteed success. The 2025 edition, organized in collaboration with Master Group Sport, was a hit with both the public and TV audiences.
This confirms that the city of Naples and its people love major sporting events and always respond enthusiastically."
