Dart Apologizes After Deodorant Incident, Boisson Responds with Humor

This Tuesday, during the Rouen tournament, an unusual scene unfolded on the court during the match between Harriet Dart and Loïs Boisson. At the end of a changeover, the British player called the chair umpire and asked them to tell the French player to apply deodorant.
Unfortunately for Dart, the moment was caught by WTA cameras and has since gone viral on social media. A few hours after her straight-set loss (6-0, 6-3), Dart apologized on social media via an Instagram story.
"I want to apologize for the comments I made on court today (Tuesday). It was something I said in the heat of the moment, and I deeply regret it. This is not how I want to conduct myself, and I take full responsibility for what happened.
I have a lot of respect for Loïs and the way she played. I will learn from this experience and move forward," she wrote on the platform.
On her part, Boisson also reacted to the incident with a humorous touch, posting a photo of herself on the Rouen court edited to include an image of deodorant: "Dove, apparently we need a collaboration," the 21-year-old Frenchwoman quipped in response to Dart. Boisson will play her round of 16 match in Normandy this Thursday against Rakhimova or Uchijima.
