Svitolina, Top Seed in Rouen: "I Already Have a Little Idea of What Awaits Me"

After winning both her singles matches at the Billie Jean King Cup last weekend, Elina Svitolina played a major role in securing Ukraine’s qualification for the finals of the competition, which will take place this September.
On clay, the world No. 18 gained plenty of confidence ahead of this week’s tournament in Rouen, where she is the top seed.
For her opening match, Svitolina will face Jil Teichmann, whom the Ukrainian will meet just days after defeating the Swiss player in the Billie Jean King Cup (6-4, 6-2). Seeking a trophy since her Strasbourg title in 2023, Svitolina will do everything she can to add an 18th WTA title to her record.
"I feel very good. I’m very excited to be here for the first time. It’s a very good tournament—I’ve heard a lot about it, and I’m happy I decided to come here and made this choice.
I’m happy to have the opportunity to play a few matches on this court. The organization is excellent, and I feel warmly welcomed here. So I’m really looking forward to Wednesday.
I already have a little idea of what awaits me. The most important thing for me is to focus on myself. I need to recover quickly, as I said, try to show my best tennis, and focus on the elements and details I’ve worked on.
What I need to do is give 100%, move well, play well, and be mentally ready when I step onto the court," she explained to the local media outlet Tribuna.
