Bianca Andreescu made her return to competition in Rouen. The Canadian had not played since her defeat in Tokyo against Katie Boulter on October 25, 2024.
She had been suffering from appendicitis, which required surgery.
Invited by the organizers in Rouen, Andreescu faced Suzan Lamens. Unfortunately for her, she lost 6-1, 4-6, 7-6.
The US Open champion is expected to compete in the upcoming tournaments in Madrid and Rome, where she will use a protected ranking.
As for Lamens, she will face Linda Noskova in the second round.
