Rakotomanga Qualifies for Her First WTA Quarterfinal in Rouen

The remarkable journey of Tiantsoa Sarah Rakotomanga in Normandy continues. Coming through the qualifiers, the 19-year-old Frenchwoman secured her first WTA main-draw victory on Monday by defeating Lucia Bronzetti.
Tonight, she faced world No. 66 Jacqueline Cristian in the second round. Mirroring her previous matches where she didn’t drop a set, Rakotomanga dominated the encounter, winning 73% of points behind her first serve and losing only one service game throughout the match.
With a score of 6-2, 6-3, she clinched the first WTA quarterfinal of her career. The dream run continues for the Toulouse native, who will break into the Top 250 next week, virtually ranked 243rd.
In the next round, she will face the winner of the match between Linda Noskova and Suzan Lamens.
