Defeated in Rome by Cerundolo, Jarry will drop out of the Top 100 after the tournament

Last year, Nicolas Jarry left his mark on the Rome Masters 1000. The Chilean, who had never won a match at the Foro Italico before, managed to reach the final, defeating Stefanos Tsitsipas and Tommy Paul along the way.
Ranked 16th in the world after the tournament, Jarry had achieved the highest ranking of his career. But a year later, the situation has changed drastically. With no significant results since the start of 2025 (only four wins on the ATP Tour) and hampered by a foot injury, he was fighting this week to stay in the Top 100.
After winning his first-round match against Hugo Gaston, he faced Francisco Cerundolo on Saturday, one of the in-form players this season and a recent Madrid semifinalist. Unsurprisingly, the world No. 18 won in straight sets, 7-6, 6-3.
This defeat sends Jarry plummeting down the rankings, now virtually ranked 146th. If he hopes to compete at Wimbledon, he will have to go through qualifying.
