Delray Beach Tournament: Davidovich Fokina - Kecmanovic in the final

The ATP 250 tournament in Delray Beach, USA, provided a few surprises. The biggest of these was the elimination of world number 4 Taylor Fritz in the quarter-finals against Alejandro Davidovich Fokina. The Spaniard, seeded number 8 in Florida, will be playing in the final.
After defeating Taro Daniel (6-2, 7-6), Mackenzie McDonald (6-2, 5-7, 6-0) and Taylor Fritz (7-6, 7-6), the 25-year-old came from behind to beat Matteo Arnaldi (6-4, 6-4) in the semi-finals.
This will be his second final on the ATP circuit, three years after the one he lost to Tsitsipas in Monte-Carlo, and he will be looking to open his record this Sunday.
To do so, he will have to overcome Miomir Kecmanovic. The Serb, who has been solid all week, has had a faultless run to the final.
He eliminated Borna Gojo (6-4, 6-4), before benefiting from the withdrawal of Yoshihito Nishioka. In the quarters, he defeated Marcos Giron (2-6, 6-4, 6-2). Tonight, he eliminated Alex Michelsen (7-6, 6-3).
In a duel between players born in 1999, Kecmanovic will be aiming for a second career title, a moment he has been waiting for since the Kitzbühel tournament in 2020, when he dominated Yannick Hanfmann in the final.
The Serb has lost two finals since then, at Delray Beach in 2023 and Estoril the same year. After losing to Fritz in the same tournament two years ago, Kecmanovic is hoping for a happier outcome this time around.
In head-to-head meetings, Kecmanovic has taken the upper hand over Davidovich Fokina and leads 3-0, although their last meeting was in Basel in 2022.
