Dementieva after Gauff's elimination in Beijing: There are important points to correct

Following her defeat in the semifinals of the WTA 1000 in Beijing against Amanda Anisimova, Coco Gauff has been questioned by a former Russian champion.

Gauff will not retain her title at the WTA 1000 in Beijing. The American, ranked 3rd in the world, was soundly beaten in the final stages by her compatriot Amanda Anisimova (6-1, 6-2 in just 58 minutes of play).

Former world No. 5 and two-time Grand Slam finalist Elena Dementieva believes that the serve, considered Gauff's real weakness for some time, is not the aspect of her game she most needs to improve.

"I'm surprised she chose a serve specialist (Gavin McMillan), because in my opinion, she would benefit from revisiting her forehand. For now, she gets by thanks to good physical condition, but there are important points to correct.

She says she commits a lot of double faults, but it's not noticeable in her game. She wins Grand Slam tournaments despite that, and when she does commit them, is it a psychological or physical problem? I can't say I associate it with technique," stated Dementieva, gold medalist in singles at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, for Tennis Up To Date.
