Dimitrov Secures a Hard-Fought Battle Against Khachanov to Continue His Miami Final Defense
A finalist in Florida last year, Grigor Dimitrov is playing high stakes in the 2025 edition of the Miami Masters 1000.
After dispatching young Federico Cina in his opening match, the level of competition rose significantly this Sunday against Karen Khachanov, an opponent he enjoys playing (3 wins to 1 before this encounter).
The first set, tightly contested, went in favor of the Russian in the tie-break. However, in the following two sets, Dimitrov secured two breaks, each at the end of the set, to ultimately triumph after 2 hours and 34 minutes of play (6-7, 6-4, 7-5).
Taking advantage of Carlos Alcaraz's elimination, Dimitrov will now face either Brandon Nakashima or David Goffin in the round of 16.
