Djokovic Advances to US Open Semifinals and Will Face Alcaraz
Novak Djokovic faced last year's US Open finalist, Taylor Fritz, on Tuesday evening. The match started well for the Serbian, who broke his opponent's serve right from the start.
Despite facing 6 break points in the set, Djokovic held his service games and won the first set 6-3.
The second set was more competitive. While the Serbian was serving to close it out at 5-4, Fritz finally managed to break his opponent's serve on the 11th break point.
But Djokovic quickly regrouped by breaking the American immediately and won the second set 7-5.
The first two games of the third set were tightly contested, but it was Fritz who broke his opponent in the 4th game and took the third set 6-3.
In the fourth set, while Fritz was serving to stay in the match at 5-4, he saved two match points before ultimately losing the third, falling with a final score of 6-3, 7-5, 3-6, 6-4.
Djokovic advances to his 53rd Grand Slam semifinal and will face Carlos Alcaraz in an attempt to reach the US Open final.
