Everyone is eagerly awaiting a final between Alcaraz and Sinner; I'll try to spoil their plans," says Djokovic
Novak Djokovic advanced to the US Open semifinals by defeating Taylor Fritz in four sets. If the Serbian wants to triumph at Flushing Meadows, a major challenge awaits him: Carlos Alcaraz in the semifinals and potentially Jannik Sinner in the final.
But first, he wants to focus on the upcoming semifinal against the Spaniard and hopes to defy the predictions that foresee a final between Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner.
In a press conference, Djokovic stated: "There's no need to talk about them; we know they are the two best in the world. Everyone is eagerly awaiting every final between them, so I'll try to spoil the plans of most people.
Sinner still has to win a few matches to reach the final, but he's playing the best tennis of any player here; he's been dominating the tournament from the start. I certainly won't step onto the court waving a white flag.
I've already reached other semifinals this season; I've been very consistent, especially in Grand Slams. You know, that's where I like to play my best tennis and achieve my best results.
And here we are, with a new opportunity. I hope to arrive in good form and play well enough to match Carlos's level on the court.
