Djokovic in Monte-Carlo: "My participation was not certain"

Novak Djokovic is indeed present in Monte-Carlo, where he will face Stan Wawrinka or Alejandro Tabilo in his opening match.
During the Miami tournament, the Serbian suffered from an issue with his right eye, and to this day, the discomfort persists.
Djokovic explains: "My participation was not certain. Mainly because of the eye infection and a minor viral infection I dealt with last week, but it seems to be getting better lately.
Well, not ideal. As for the eye, yes. Unfortunately, it started on the day of the semifinals in Miami, and I struggled to manage it in the final.
But I believe it’s calming down. I’m seeing the doctor later today, so we’ll see—it should be fine for the first round.
I still have a few days before the first round. I’m still trying to adjust to the clay and dealing with some minor health issues. I hope to be ready.
I haven’t had much time to adapt to this tournament, so my expectations aren’t very high here."
