Djokovic on Sinner: "It reminds me of myself throughout my career"

Novak Djokovic failed to win his 100th career title in Shanghai.

Opposed to an unflappable Jannik Sinner in the final, he quite logically lost (7-6, 6-3).

Asked about his opponent's level of tennis, the Serb couldn't help noticing similarities between Sinner's current game and what has long been his own strength.

He said: "He's improved his serve enormously, which has become an important weapon in his game.

He's very aggressive from the baseline, and as soon as he gets a shorter ball, he takes the initiative.

He's very solid on the forehand and backhand, doesn't make too many mistakes and tries to waste his opponent's time.

What he's doing today reminds me of myself throughout my career.

That's what I've been doing for so many years: playing fast tennis, wasting his opponent's time, suffocating him.

You want your opponents to always feel under pressure because of your shots, your speed and your presence on the court."
