Pietrangeli: "Sinner deserves to finish the year as world number 1".

Pietrangeli: Sinner deserves to finish the year as world number 1.

Nicola Pietrangeli, former Italian tennis glory and two-time French Open winner, reflects on Jannik Sinner's prodigious season.

Consultant to Sky Sport, he was asked about Sinner's recent achievement.

The young Italian is now guaranteed to finish the year as world number one, regardless of his end-of-season results.

And, according to Pietrangeli, this is richly deserved: "Sinner deserves to finish the year as world number 1.

Right now, I can't see anyone other than Alcaraz as the physical force capable of beating him.

Jannik is impressive and if he's beaten, it's often because he's had a dip in form."
