Djokovic passes the Zverev test and joins Sinner in the Roland-Garros semifinals
At 38 years old, Novak Djokovic continues to secure his place in the final rounds of Grand Slam tournaments.
The Serbian, already a semifinalist at this year's Australian Open, won his quarterfinal tonight against Alexander Zverev at Roland-Garros. After a shaky start in the first set, Djokovic, relying on his experience in such matches, dominated the next three sets to win 4-6, 6-3, 6-2, 6-4 in 3 hours and 17 minutes.
Zverev had a strong start, but the German completely collapsed afterward, piling up unforced errors and finding no real answers to counter his opponent's game.
He did try to turn things around in the fourth set by earning a break-back opportunity, but he lacked composure at the end of a spectacular 41-shot rally (see video below).
For his 13th career semifinal at Roland-Garros, Djokovic will face world No. 1 Jannik Sinner. The two players haven’t met on tour since last year's Shanghai Masters 1000 final.
