Djokovic Trained with a Knee Strap Before the Geneva Tournament
Novak Djokovic has decided to skip the Rome Masters 1000. The Serbian, currently on a three-match losing streak, has not particularly shone since the start of the season, despite reaching the final in Miami.
Still chasing his 100th ATP title, the former world No. 1 has accepted a wild card to compete in the Geneva tournament from May 18 to 24. This will be his final warm-up event before Roland-Garros, which will be his next major challenge.
Last year, the Serbian suffered a knee injury during the Paris Grand Slam and withdrew before his quarterfinal against Casper Ruud. Despite the injury, he returned to the French clay a month later for the Olympic Games and managed to win the gold medal against Carlos Alcaraz.
Since then, his knee discomfort seemed to have disappeared, but a recent photo has raised new questions about the Serbian’s fitness. In the past few hours, Djokovic was seen training on clay but was spotted wearing a strap on his right knee—the same one that was injured against Cerundolo a year ago at Porte d’Auteuil.
