Dolgopolov judges the level of the tour: "Outside of Alcaraz and Sinner, the top 15 is much weaker than in our era"
The 2025 season was marked above all by the dominance of Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner, who monopolized both Grand Slam titles and several major tournaments.
The rest of the top 10, often outclassed, failed to compete with the two champions, revealing a significant gap in level that no one managed to close.
On his X account (formerly Twitter), former player Alexandr Dolgopolov, who reached world No. 13 in 2012, gave his analysis on the current state of the men's tour:
"I rarely watch tennis today, but here's how I see things compared to our era.
The best days of Sinner and Alcaraz are probably equivalent to those of the Big 3, but overall, they are less solid than any of the three.
From 3rd to 15th place, it's much weaker than in our era. Players ranked between 15th and 50th are roughly at the same level, while those between 50 and 100 are stronger today than in our era."
