In comments relayed by Punto de Break, he reacted to his defeat: "The match did not go as planned. We knew it would be difficult because Berrettini is in great form in this competition and is stringing together wins, carried by the crowd.

On this surface, he is a formidable opponent, with an excellent serve. I should have put more pressure on my second serves and won a few extra points to put him in difficulty. He played very well, and I came up just short. So we have to bounce back, like on the first day."
