Imperial Italy Wins Its Third Consecutive Davis Cup
For the third consecutive year, and without conceding a single singles match in the final, Italy has won the Davis Cup.
Matteo Berrettini, undefeated in singles for eleven matches in the competition, logically paved the way by mastering Pablo Carreno Busta (6-3, 6-4).
The second match, which pitted Flavio Cobolli against Jaume Munar, took on the appearance of a thriller. The Italian number 1, already the author of a monumental battle against Zizou Bergs on Friday, once again delivered an intense fight to overcome Munar (1-6, 7-6, 7-5).
After 2 hours and 53 minutes of effort, Cobolli gave Italy the fourth Davis Cup in its history, the third in a row. A rare performance, which had not been achieved since the United States' five consecutive titles between 1968 and 1972.
Without Jannik Sinner and Lorenzo Musetti, the Squadra Azzurra managed to surpass themselves in front of their home crowd in Bologna.
