Draper on Alcaraz: "He's an incredible talent for the sport".
2024 will go down as a pivotal year in Jack Draper's career. The 22-year-old British left-hander won the first two titles of his career, in Stuttgart and Vienna.
He also achieved a career-best ranking of 15th in October.
His most memorable match of the season was undoubtedly his victory over Carlos Alcaraz at Queen's, where the Spaniard was the defending champion (7-6, 6-3).
Draper returned to this match, praising the performance of the two-time Grand Slam winner this year.
"I had just won my first title in Stuttgart. I had to get on a plane with all the emotions that brings.
The very next day, I was back in training. Then I had to play against Carlos (Alcaraz).
I'd already played him twice. The first time he won, but it was close, and the second time I was injured, so I wasn't able to gauge him too much.
Of course, he's a young player with an incredible talent for the sport. To be able to beat him at Queen's in front of my home crowd was incredible.
It was his first tournament on grass after winning the French Open, so you have to bear that in mind too. It was a fantastic experience, and I played a good match.
He ended up winning Wimbledon, bravo to him", he elaborated for LTA.
