Draper reflects on his defeat: "I've only won 100 matches while Alcaraz has over 300"

Defeated by Alcaraz in the quarterfinals of Rome, Draper couldn't find the answers against the Spaniard. Although he led 4-2 in the first set, the Brit saw his opponent turn the tide to win the match. As reported by *Punto de Break*, the 23-year-old player looked back on his loss and cited fatigue as a major factor, as well as the importance of experience:
"I’ve played a lot over the last four weeks. I don’t want to admit it, but fatigue probably had an effect on me, not just today but throughout the week. It’s been tough to maintain my level during matches.
Today, against someone like Alcaraz, I can’t afford that. You can’t have those dips because it costs you. I don’t think that’s the reason I lost, because Carlos was better than me, but I’m sure fatigue played a part. I’ve been going full throttle for about a year and a half now.
I need time to get used to it. I’ve only won 100 matches on tour, while an elite player like Alcaraz has over 300. The more time I spend on tour and the more experience I gain, the more it will help me become a better player mentally."
