Draw for the ATP 250 Tournament in Bucharest: Gasquet Faces Van de Zandschulp in First Round, Baez and Wawrinka Also in Action
The draw for the Bucharest tournament took place this Saturday. In his final appearance in Romania, Richard Gasquet, who received a wild card, was drawn against Botic van de Zandschulp for his opening match. The winner of this clash will face third-seeded Flavio Cobolli.
Top-seeded and still very comfortable on clay, Sebastian Baez will play his first match in the second round against either Gabriel Diallo or Chun-Hsin Tseng.
Stan Wawrinka, who recently celebrated his 40th birthday, will start against a qualifier and could meet second-seeded Pedro Martinez if he advances.
As for the other first-round matchups, we have Lajovic vs. O’Connell, Nardi vs. Fucsovics (with the winner facing Mariano Navone in the second round), and Marozsan vs. Dzumhur. Finally, Nicolas Jarry, who has been injured since the Santiago tournament in February, appears to have recovered from his foot injury and is part of the draw.
