Draw for the WTA 250 São Paulo Tournament: Haddad Maia Top Seed at Home, Jeanjean and Rakotomanga Competing in Brazil
This year, the WTA 250 São Paulo tournament has been added to the calendar. For its inaugural edition, Beatriz Haddad Maia, the world No. 22, will be the main headliner of this tournament, which she will play at home.
In her opening match, the 29-year-old player, who was born in São Paulo, will start in the round of 16 against a player coming from the qualifiers. The No. 2 seed, Solana Sierra, will play against Arianne Hartono in the first round.
Fresh off her title at the WTA 125 Guadalajara tournament in Mexico, No. 3 seed Alexandra Eala will face a qualifier in the first round, as will No. 4 seed Ajla Tomljanovic. Two French players are also present in São Paulo.
Léolia Jeanjean, ranked 93rd in the WTA, will play against Janice Tjen, who recently became the first Indonesian player in 22 years to win a Grand Slam match by defeating Veronika Kudermetova at the US Open.
