Droguet wins a great battle against Coric at Roland-Garros

Facing Coric in the first round of Roland-Garros qualifiers, Titouan Droguet had a tough challenge against the world No. 83. Initially trailing after a closely contested first set (7-5), the French player fought hard to clinch the tiebreak in the second set. Also very tight, the 23-year-old made the difference in an atmosphere that was in his favor (11-9).
In the third and final set, he pulled ahead by dominating the Croatian's service games. Effective, he won five of the six break points he created throughout the match. He thus triumphed in three sets (5-7, 7-6, 6-2) in 2 hours and 37 minutes of play.
Ranked 232nd in the world, Droguet reaches the second round of the qualifiers, as he did last year (defeated by Ritschard), by delivering an impressive performance against the No. 1 seed in the qualifiers. Coric was coming off four victories in Challengers this year in Lugano, Thionville, Zadar, and Aix-en-Provence.
Droguet will face his compatriot Gea in the next round.
