"Nobody will be a new Rafa, Roger, or Novak," says Mauresmo about Alcaraz

Tournament director of Roland-Garros since December 2021, Amélie Mauresmo gave an interview ahead of the event. While she talked about the tribute organized for Rafael Nadal, the Frenchwoman also shared her thoughts on the new generation, especially the young prodigy Carlos Alcaraz:
"New Rafa? Nobody will be a new Rafa, a new Roger, or a new Novak. I would hate myself if I said that. But he is really one of the young players showing incredible skills on the court, an incredible spirit and mental strength, in addition to obviously being very strong physically.
We all want to see if, after these three players who have won 20 Grand Slam tournaments or more, this young generation will be able, maybe not to follow in their footsteps because those are pretty big shoes to fill, but to show what they can do," she said in an interview relayed by Tennis Up To Date.
The tribute for Nadal will take place on Sunday, May 25, at Porte d'Auteuil. An exhibition retracing the Majorcan's career will also be available to spectators present on-site.
