Eastbourne: Clash Between Fritz and Fonseca Halted Due to Nightfall
Taylor Fritz, the defending champion at Eastbourne, is aiming for a fourth title on British grass just before heading to Wimbledon.
However, the world No. 6 drew Joao Fonseca for his opening match. The duel began late in the day and could not be completed. Fritz comfortably took the first set 6-3, but the battle grew tighter in the second, with Fonseca ultimately prevailing in the tie-break 7-5.
Due to fading light, the two players will return tomorrow to Eastbourne’s center court, scheduled second after the quarterfinal between Varvara Gracheva and Barbora Krejcikova. The winner will then play again later in the day against Marcos Giron.
