Eubanks sees Dimitrov as a potential Australian Open surprise: "He's a credible outsider".
During the pre-season, Christopher Eubanks took advantage of the end of tournaments to become a consultant for Tennis Channel.
The 28-year-old American, who was ranked 29th in the world in the summer of 2023 after his quarter-final finish at Wimbledon, was asked to predict the ATP Tour player who might not be expected to make it big in Melbourne.
In his opinion, it's Dimitrov who could play the spoilsport at the first Grand Slam of the season in a few weeks' time.
"If I had to pick a player who could be a surprise at the end of the tournament to lift the trophy, I'd say Grigor Dimitrov.
He's a credible outsider. He played some phenomenal tennis last year, especially on hard court.
We've seen him play some very good tennis in the past, a few years ago when he became world number 3, but I think his level last year was higher than it was then.
He moves around the court very well. He played an excellent match against Carlos Alcaraz in Miami (the Bulgarian won 6-2, 6-4 in the quarter-finals) in a match in which he demonstrated his full technical range.
We know he's capable of hurting any player on the circuit.
What's more, we saw that during his preparation period, he trained with Jannik Sinner. For me, that's an important point.
The fact that he's training with the best player in the world on a daily basis for one or two weeks can also worry the competition, who will see Dimitrov as a threat in Australia", he detailed.
