Eva Lys on Electronic Line Calling on Clay: "It's a Horrible Idea"
Rising WTA player Eva Lys is ranked 70th in the world this week, marking the highest ranking of her career. Competing this week at the La Bisbal d’Emporda tournament in Spain, where she is the top seed, the German recently voiced her opinion on the introduction of electronic line calling on clay courts. She is not a fan of the system.
"Electronic line calling on clay is a horrible idea. We can’t argue with the machine. If you see a mark that’s clearly out but the electronic system says it’s in, we can’t stop play.
The machines are a good thing, but they’re not perfect. On hard courts, it’s a big yes. But on clay, where we can see all the marks on the court, I’m not so sure," she wrote on her X (formerly Twitter) account.
