A week after announcing her return to the WTA circuit, Alizé Cornet will officially resume at the WTA 125 in La Bisbal d'Emporda in Spain.

Thanks to her protected ranking, the player from Nice was able to enter directly into the main draw and will play in the first round against Irene Burillo Escorihuela, ranked 228th in the world.

If successful, things could get a little more complicated quickly, with a possible second-round match against Yuliia Starodubtseva, ranked 108th in the world.

Cornet is in the quarter of the draw with the tournament's top seed, Eva Lys, who reached the round of 16 at the Australian Open earlier in the season.

Another French player present in the draw, Diane Parry, will face a qualifier in her opening match.
