Even though it's still early in this tournament, I'm excited about this opportunity," says Raducanu ahead of her match against Sabalenka
After a successful first round against her compatriot Xu, Raducanu kept the momentum going by defeating the 2023 champion, Vondrousova. An impressive performance from the local player, which she’ll need to repeat in the next round as she faces world No. 1 Sabalenka.
Despite the tough challenge ahead, Raducanu wants to approach this match as a real opportunity, as shown in her interview shared by *Tennis Up To Date*:
"Of course, Aryna is the world No. 1 and she has dominated the women’s tour in recent years. I know it’s going to be a huge challenge. I’ll have to play really good tennis. You want to face the best because you’ll have to beat them at some point if you want to win one of these tournaments. Even though it’s still early in this Grand Slam, I’m looking forward to this opportunity."
The Belarusian, for her part, also spoke ahead of her third-round match, highlighting the difference in her opponent’s level compared to last season:
"Emma is playing much better tennis than last year, I have to say. She’s improved. You can see she’s on the right track. Plus, facing a British player at Wimbledon—I’m not sure I prefer that.
