"Ferrero and Cahill are great tennis minds," Djokovic praises Alcaraz and Sinner's coaches

Novak Djokovic reached the semifinals of every Grand Slam this season but did not make a single Major final. As a result, for the second consecutive year, the Serbian did not win a Grand Slam, a first for him since 2009-2010.
The blame lies with Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner, who are the two best players in the world and faced each other in the finals of three Grand Slams in 2025. According to Djokovic, the success of the two players is due to the work of Juan Carlos Ferrero for the Spaniard and Darren Cahill for the Italian.
"They have coaches who have won Grand Slam tournaments as both players and coaches. Ferrero and Darren Cahill are great tennis minds, very experienced individuals who know exactly how to prepare their protégés.
I’m sure they also learned a lot from us (the Big 3) by observing our playing style and our approach to recovery, although I’m not sure we played much more than they did.
The main difference between then and now is the format and duration of tournaments. For most of our careers, the Masters 1000 events lasted seven days. It was completely different.
We played many matches in a short time, but everything was concentrated into one week, and then we immediately moved on to the next tournament. Today, events are longer. If I were their age today and playing a full schedule, I would probably also miss some major tournaments.
It’s impossible to play everything and stay fit for the Grand Slams, which are the most important tournaments. From what I see, they manage this aspect very well, and the results confirm it," Djokovic stated to the media outlet Championat.
