Patrick Mouratoglou, former coach of Serena Williams and more recently Naomi Osaka, often shares his analysis of the men's and women's tours on social media.

Following Carlos Alcaraz's victory at the US Open, the French coach made a comparison between the game of the current world No. 1 and that of Roger Federer.

"When I say that Carlos Alcaraz plays like Roger, but at a better level, it's because he's a new generation and tennis is evolving. They have the same type of game. An incredible forehand, they move around their backhand, a very complete game where they use everything: drop shots, sometimes return volleys, and very often serve-and-volley.

They try to dominate by taking the ball early, coming to the net whenever they have the opportunity. It's a complete game. Who on the tour manages to do that? Very few players. It's very rare. Many players have the technical ability to do it, but they don't dare to do it in a match.

Carlos and Roger have the same concept of tennis. Of course, their styles differ somewhat: Roger is more fluid, and he will always be the most fluid player to ever play. But it's the same type of tennis," assured Mouratoglou.

Born almost by accident in an Acapulco garden, padel has in fifty years become a global phenomenon that both fascinates and worries tennis. Its meteoric rise is already reshaping the landscape of racket sports.

Since February 2022 and the invasion of Ukraine by Russia, Ukrainian sport has been heavily affected by human, structural and economic losses. Tennis has, of course, not been spared. While Ukrainian athletes have had to rethink their entire organization, an entire country, behind the scenes, has had to adapt and change its training conditions. This extends all the way to the highest level, where professional players have spoken out, trying as best they can to help their nation.

As we move to the end of this month and also closing out the year I am wishing all of those following me a Merry Christmas and a Happy/Healthy New Year.

Let's make that wish for all 2000 plus players hoping for 5 wins each day. Hoping ŵhen we open the results page to see all green, and no red. And especially NO CANCELED matches.

From me and my rotti JAZ, I bid you all good night, and see you in...

why did tennis tonic void predictions on the match between Chwalinska and Huergo at the Quito tournament? The match was played to completion and on time. If TT feels the match is one sided, and of course it was, then don't put it up for prediction. This is getting irritating.

The finals are here, and we scramble for the best finish. I've been chasing "King" all year and I was able to shrink the spread a little. Skelp is also closing the gap.

Seasons best to all the regulars in our league.

Will you all be back in the new year.?

Steffi Graf completed a Golden Slam (not just a career Grand Slam) when she was 19. She is the only person to accomplish that, winning the four majors plus Olympic gold the same calendar year.
