Fils not convinced by electronic line-calling on clay: "With line judges, there was more life on the court"

Since this year, electronic line-calling has been implemented at all ATP tournaments played on clay courts to avoid errors made by line judges or chair umpires.
Qualified for the quarterfinals in Monte-Carlo, where he will face Carlos Alcaraz tomorrow, Arthur Fils regrets the absence of line judges on this surface:
"I think we’re losing the charm of tennis. When I was young, I remember the line judges. There was more life on the court. On hard courts, it’s not as bad, but on clay, they’re really missed.
It’s good to have the umpire’s opinion and to be able to check the ball mark. Sometimes, the machines can also make mistakes. So it’s different on clay. I don’t really like how it is now..."
The Frenchman will still enjoy the presence of line judges at Roland-Garros, which will remain in place for the 2025 edition.
